Private unaided schools are established and administered by private management, which do not get any grant or aid from central or state government or local authority for meeting their expenses namely salary payable to teachers and non teaching staff. The only source of revenue to meet these expenses is fees charged to students.
Apart from meeting expenses these schools also have to raise funds for future growth, development as well as maintenances and improvement of existing structure.
As per the latest survey in Maharashtra,” Status of Elementary Education in Maharashtra State and municipal corporation profiles”, says, 67% of schools in Maharashtra are government schools, 20% schools are private aided schools and 12% schools are private unaided schools.
And report further says that 17% of total students are studying in these private unaided schools. The reason is due to better teacher- pupil ratio, and better infra structure, wide gap in learning , teaching levels in government schools and private unaided schools.
