Parents' influence the growth of child character. The first institution of a child where he learns is at home. Child spends most of his time with parents and environment provided to him by his parents in home.

Give more time to child: It will make him feel responsible and will show interest in study. Make him aware of importance of study.
Provide him supportive environment: Create a good loving environment & good relationships. Do not do activities at home which distracts his attention. Paste some charts, study materials on the walls.
Encourage Child: Appreciate, if he does well, by doing so he will struggle more to get more appreciation. Encourage if he fails, that enables him to stand again and start with fresh determination.

Discuss with your child: Your child may have some problems, that hinders him in study. Be friendly with him & try to solve it. Make him open up with you.
Keep watch: Keep a  watch that, he is using his time & energy on useful activities and does not waste them. Do not suspect him, but keep a watch on him.
Improve habits: Advise him of good habits, and make him  practice them. Make him sleep in time and get up early. Develop in him , do  useful activities.
Your behavior: Keep balance in your love and strictness. Have love while advising him and have authoritative behavior while prohibiting him for wasting time or on wrong manners, so that he follows them seriously.
