Practical knowledge vs. old school knowledge- Ensure a bright future for your child

Each child is born with clean slate. He will paint his own picture with observations, remarks, actions, challenges, the way he sees world around him. It is our responsibility to help child feel safe when the world around us is so unsafe.
We need to properly prepare our child with frank discussion. Parent and school together can play an important role. We need to develop working relationship with teacher, to help child become independent. So many little things play an important role in child's mind.

We need to pay attention to what child loves. Help him when he is struggling.  Set aside time to read together, discuss with him, explain him how things work, allow him talk, and listen what he has in his mind. Connect him with the world. Help him take the charge of learning. Keep T V to a minimum. Do not over schedule him. Learn something new every day with him. Consequences of guilt should be clearly stated, when inappropriate behavior occurs. Never complain, and don't forget to appreciate him when something  good is noticed.

Our education system assesses students at the end of the year, in three hours written exams. Students mug up lessons, question-answers, for exam, but do not understand the concept or the use of the understandings in life ahead.  Hence, when it comes to the implementation of the same knowledge, the child goes numb.   Again they mug up in higher studies and pass out with good grades, however, when put to use, this pattern of studying will only become a liability in the future.

Instead a good sense of practical knowledge, skills , field experience are very useful. Student in real life will be beneficial to family, community and to the country. He/she should be independent in problem solving which will ensure a bright future of the kid. He should be able to explore, do research, find solutions, bring results in fixed time frame, that will bring success to him and also to the society.
